Fall is quickly approaching. It is time to look forward to our first membership meeting of the 2026-2027 program season for the South Bend-Elkhart Bird Alliance (SBEBA).

Due to roadwork and other construction activities inside Rum Village Park during September and October, both our September and October membership meetings will take place instead at the Howard Park Event Center, 219 S. St. Louis Blvd. in South Bend. The park is on the corner of Jefferson Blvd. and S. St. Louis Blvd., along the East Bank of the St. Joseph River across from downtown.

The September meeting will be on Sunday, September 13th at 2:00 p.m. in the Ribbon Room at Howard Park. The speaker will be Sherwood Waggy. He is a member of several astronomical societies here in Indiana. A member of SBEBA and frequent attendee at our programs, many of you already know him. His program is called “What is light pollution and why is it so bad?” and is adapted from one originally created by DarkSky International. There will be refreshments and snacks. All our events are open to members and non-members of all ages. Hope to see you there!
