Meeting with Legislators

The South Bend-Elkhart Audubon Society meets with local legislators on a regular basis to bring up issues important to the society.

We have also sent representatives to Washington, DC to meet with legislators and lobby for important conservation issues.

Grant Funding

The South Bend - Elkhart Audubon Society has provided thousands of dollars to dozens of recipients for conservation purposes.

These dollars help to fund our mission and we encourage the public to apply for these grants.

Learn more on our WGM page.

Climate Watch

Climate Watch is a program organized by the National Audubon Society to monitor bird population levels in a standardized, scientific way.

We participate and coordinate this program in both St. Joseph and Elkhart counties.

Learn more about Climate Watch here, or contact us if you are interested in helping out.

Wildlife Sanctuary

One of the most direct ways we are able to effect conservation is to directly purchase land and ensure that it is protected from development, pollution, and other risks to the environment.

Over the years we have purchased over 30 acres of property in Mishawaka and we have been dedicated to its conservation.

We use the sanctuary to host pancake breakfasts and other events throughout the year. Members can access the sanctuary at any time after obtaining a key.
