St. Patrick’s County Park


 

Location

St. Patrick’s County Park is located about 10 minutes north of South Bend, just west of State Road 933. From 933, turn west on Auten road. The park will be on your right in about a mile.

The park borders the Michigan state line to the north - across the state line the park becomes Madeline Bertrand Park.

There is parking at the red barn shortly after entering the park, and more parking at the river boat launch further into the park.

Trails

  • Trails 2, 3 - These trails take you along the St. Joseph river with great wooded habitat. They also will bring you to the Osprey nest which is usually occupied during the summer months.

  • Trails 4, 5, 6 - These trails can be connected to 2 and 3 above and bring you though some of the other habitats of the park. Pileated woodpeckers are common near the Manion cabin.

  • Eagle’s Nest - Park near the red barn and then walk back past the entrance of the park to see the eagle’s nest from a safe distance. There is also a shelter with educational information about the eagles. The eagle’s nest is available for view using a webcam at this link.
